Everest Base Camp trek

The Everest base camp trek is without a doubt one of the most popular trekking routes in Nepal. Of course, the country of Mt. Everest is bound to receive the most traffic in the lap of the highest point on the earth. This trek is one of the prime examples of the heavenly experience we talk about when it comes to Nepal.

Everest Base Camp trek starts at the Lukla Airport, the entire flight is a kind of adventure sport in itself. Landing on the most dangerous airport in Nepal is definitely a task for thrill-seekers. From the very beginning, you will find this trip to be full of adventures with different cultural experiences of the Sherpa community.

You can encounter the magnificent walk on famous mountaineers ‘ footprints on this trek. On the way, you visit the beautiful high passes and the raging river of Dudhkoshi. On the route, along with the renowned Namche Bazaar, you will also see the sights of serene Imjatse valley and several Buddhist monasteries.

The highest elevation of the trek is at 5,600 m, Kala Patthar.

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Day 7: Acclimatization day trip to Dingboche.
Day 8: Lobuche
Day 9: Trek to Everest Base Camp – back to Gorak Shep

Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar
Day 12: Namche to Lukla
Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Altitude: 1345m/4412ft
Highlights: Explore and indulge with the pure history of the majestic city.
You will arrive Kathmandu through Tribhuvan International airport from where you will be received. You will be welcomed with our heartwarming gesture and allow you to be set in the hotel.
A full day tour in the heart of Nepal, Kathmandu will definitely withdraw the tiredness of your travel. The city full of history, art and tradition will make you not want the day to end.

Day 2: Short flight to Lukla –Trek to Phakding

Altitude: 2840m/9320 ft (Lukla) and 2610m/8560 ft (Phakding)
Trekking hours: Approximately 3.5 hours
Highlights: Breathtaking scenic mountain flight from Kathmandu to Lukla
The following day, you will experience a flight to Lukla with absolutely breathtaking views of the mountains.
The next destination will be through the forest of blooming rhododendrons, magnolia trees, and pine to Phakding.
The remaining time can be utilized by taking good rest and get yourself prepared for the real adventure ahead.

Day 3: Trek to Namche Bazaar

Altitude: 3440m/11290 ft
Trekking hours: Approximately 6 hours
Highlights: Explore Namche Bazaar better known as the gateway to Mt. Everest and the main trading center of Khumbu region.
On the third day of the trek, you will be moving forward to reach Namche Bazar. As you ascend the way, beautiful pine forest alongside the banks of Dudh Koshi river will be encountered.
The trek will further lead you to enter Sagarmatha National Park where you can possibly see some rare wild species such as Himalayan Bear, Thur, Red Panda, and many more.
After you reach Namche Bazar, the breeze of the location will give you the vibe of high altitude and the first view of Mt. Everest will be seen.

Day 4: Acclimatization day trip to Namche Bazaar.

Altitude: 3440m/11290 ft
Trekking hours: Approximately 6 hours
Highlights: Khumjung Village, a perfect place to get an insight into high-altitude life in the Himalaya
The fourth day of the trek will be spent for acclimatization by a full day trip in Namche Bazaar.
The adjustment of your body in the altitude is following the advice “hike high and sleep low”.
On a day trip to Namche Bazaar you will climb 300 meters to the town of Khumjung.
As the night will be spent in Namche Bazaar, some local schools and a Buddhist monasteries will be explored during the day.

Day 5: Trek to Tengboche

Altitude: 3860m/12660ft
Trekking hours: Approximately 5 hours
Highlights: Tengboche Monastery, the largest monastery in the Khumbu region
Trek will continue to reach the Mongla Pass on the fifth day by walking across the stone steps.
You will experience a spectacular view of 3 different mountains, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku, and Mt. Khumbila from this point.
All these mountains are regarded by Sherpas as sacred mountains of the patron god of the Khumbu region.
Tengboche, largest monastery of the Khumbu region will be visited to receive blessings and a special prayer from the head of Lama for ensuring safety and success of the trek can be organized.

Day 6: Trek to Dingboche

Altitude: 4360m/14300ft
Trekking hours: Approximately 5 hours
Highlights: Soaring mountain views of Taboche, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Cholatse and many other peaks
The sixth day of the trek will let you acknowledge how local people of Nepal live as you will pass through small villages on the path.
Passing via the Khumbila Khola valley and ascending towards the ridgeline, you will be amazed by the scenery that will surround you.
Mt. Taboche, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Cholatse, and many other mountains will leave you a different vibe.

Day 7: Acclimatization day trip to Dingboche.

The second acclimatization will be organized on the seventh day of the trek.
Trekking up in a steep mountain will help you acclimatize.
The trail is quite steep, and rocky at points, but at every turn, the vistas become more spectacular.

Day 8: Trek to Lobuche

Altitude: 4940m/16207 ft
Trekking hours: Approximately 5 hours
You’ll head towards Lobuche via the steep terminal moraine left by the Khumbu Glacier on the eighth day of the trek.
This might be a bit challenging for you but you don’t need to worry because the breath-taking view will definitely keep you up forward.
There are numerous memorials for the climbers who lost their lives whilst climbing Mt. Everest at the top of the hill.
You’ll reach Lobuche after climbing for some time and will spend the night.

Day 9: From Lobuche trek to  Gorak Shep and trek to Everest Base Camp (EBC) – back to Gorak Shep

Altitude: Gorak Shep (5170m/16961 ft) and Everest Base Camp (5300m/17400 ft)
Trekking hours: Approximately 6 hours.
The ninth day of the trek will be the most exciting, thrilling and awaited one as you will finally reach EBC.
You will be moving towards Gorak Shep and as you reach there, backpacks will be dropped to march toward EBC.
Slowly, you’ll approach the top of the Khumbu Glacier and soon you’ll get a view of the Khumbu Icefall. After a few hours of hike you will finally be at almost the highest point of your trek, Everest Base Camp at an altitude of 5,364 m.
After the accomplishment you will descend down your way to Gorak Shep and spend overnight.

Day 10: Hike up to Kala Pattar and then trek to Periche

Altitude: Periche (4270m/14070 ft) and Kala Pattar (5545m/18192 ft)
Trekking hours: Approximately 7 hours
Highlights: Kala Pattar, one of the best viewpoints for Mt. Everest
Finally on the tenth day, you will be on the highest point of your trek, Kala Pathar.
The one real fact is Mt. Everest cannot be seen from Base Camp, as the Mt. Lhotse sits right in front of it. So, it is considered the best viewpoint in the entire Khumbu region.
You will be stunned by the view From the top of the hill where you’ll have 360-degree views of Himalayan giants like Khumbutse, Changtse, Lhotse, Nuptse, and of course Mt. Everest!
You’ll spend overnight at Pheriche.

Day 11: Trek to Namche Bazaar

Altitude: 3440m/11290 ft
Trekking hours: Approximately 6 hours
Highlights: Explore once again the heartland of Sherpa people, Namche Bazaar
The reverse step will start from the eleventh day of your trek.
After a few up and down hills, suspension bridge and small village you will reach Namche Bazaar.
The opportunity of celebrating your successful trek can be operated in Namche Bazaar as the spot is filled with lots of lodges, cafes, restaurants, and different shops.
You will spend your night here

Day 12: Namche to Lukla

Altitude: 2840m/9320 ft
Trekking hours: Approximately 6 hours
Highlights: Explore Lukla valley and enjoy the final walk in the Everest region
The twelfth day of your trek will be the last day to walk.
On this day you will follow all the way to Dudh Koshi River and arrive at Phakding and ascend to Lukla.

Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu

Highlights: Another breathtaking roaring mountain flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Time for shopping and get relax
With a breathtaking scenery of the country you will return all the way back to Kathmandu on the thirteenth day of the trek.
You can explore the city if you wish, you will spend your night here.
