Pokhara

After Kathmandu, Pokhara is the largest city in Nepal and it definitely has a lot to offer. An eight hour drive from Kathmandu it’s located around 200km or 120 miles away from the capital city. After the invasion of Tibet by China in 1950 and the Indo-China warfare in 1962, the old trading route to India from Tibet through Pokhara became obsolete back in the day. Today only a few caravans from Mustang arrive in Bagar.

Pokhara is considered the tourism capital of Nepal, acting as the gateway to the great Annapurna trekking circuit. There are countless tourist attractions in Pokhara establishing it as the hub of Nepalese tourism. Not only can you enjoy the spectacular views the city has to offer sightseeing, but you can also visit beautiful hill stations like “Sarangkot” and “World Peace Pagoda Stupa.” The city of lakes, Pokhara is the home to Fewa Lake, the second largest lake in Nepal and six more popular lakes of Nepal.

If you’re ever here, paragliding is a fun activity you should definitely try. Paragliding is Pokhara’s most pioneering sport in recent years.
